Country: Spain
Wine region: Valdeorras
Grape variety: Godello
Vintage: 2019
Unit Quantity: 750ml
Wine making:
Neno from Viña Somoza is the result of the manual selection of grapes from several plots with different types of soil: slate from the highest areas, granite, "xábregos" (sandy) from the middle of the hillside and alluvial soils from the valley. It is made with grapes from vines coming from plots with different orientations and heights, characteristic of the lands of the Valdeorras region.
The Neno harvest is carried out in boxes of no more than 15 kg, selected and processed on the same day of collection. Next, cold macerations are carried out between 12 and 48 hours, followed by subsequent pressing and natural static settling. Fermentation is carried out with spontaneous yeasts at a controlled temperature. in stainless steel tanks, vats and French oak barrels. Aging on fine lees, with the batonnage method, for 7 months.
Description:
Nose: Aromas of green fruit of apple and pear. Pleasant notes of white flowers, and a vegetable background of fennel characteristic of the great Godello.
Taste: Wide wine, very fresh and balanced. Sensations of balsamic and floral notes. Unctuous and endowed with good acidity. Long and persistent aftertaste, with a slight varietal bitterness that provides breadth in the mouth.
Winepairing:
Cheeses: soft and fruity cheeses such as the Comté type. Also, with soft cheeses such as Munster or Camembert. Perfect with Galician cheeses
Fish: it best accompanies white fish in any form of preparation, grilled, baked, or grilled. Perfect pairing with sushi.
Seafood: raw, cooked or grilled. I would highlight the pairing with lobster or grilled razor clams and, of course, octopus.
Meats: red meats, lightly spiced and seasoned. Bird stews.
Rice: soupy, seafood.
Salads: especially if they have contrasts of flavors between sweet and salty.
