Vintage:
The years in 9 regularly mark the memory of winegrowers and this vintage was no exception. After an early bud burst in early April, flowering was gradual and took place in good conditions in all the vineyards. Then a hot summer began in late June, which the vines bravely resisted: they suffered little from water stress, thanks to the chamomile herbal infusions we sprayed on the vegetation to cope with the heat. Finally, the harvest went as usual, without any particular precocity. The wines are promising; a vintage in 9 is born, once again, under a lucky star.
Wine making:
Each variety is harvested separately and manually. Vinification takes place in oak fermenters for the reductive varieties (Mourvèdre, Syrah) and in traditional enameled concrete tanks for the Oxidative grapes (all the others). Once the malolactic fermentation is finished, the Famille Perrin blends the different varieties. The blend is then aged in oak Foudres for a year before being bottled.
Description:
Nose: Magnificent deep intense ruby-red colour. The nose of this Beaucastel red 2019 is rich and complex, mixing superb notes of spices, fresh fruit, cocoa and brandy
Taste: Very elegant, full-bodied and generous on the palate, this wine offers a silky texture and powerful aromas of black berries and noble spices. It ends with a very nice length.
