Description

Information:

Unique, full of passion and emotion. Wines that, with every sip, proudly confirm their origin in the heart of the Ribera del Duero: a terroir where endearing and unforgettable sensations and moments are born.

In the late 1980s, we focused on an emerging and privileged wine-growing region, studying its soils and selecting the best location to produce great wines. Since 1993, we have acquired old vineyards like El Otero and begun new plantings.

In 2000, after years of experimentation in the vineyard and the winery, we presented the first Áster wines. We delved deeper into our knowledge of the vineyard and refined the renowned personality of our brands.

Today, as a result of our restlessness and constant pursuit of excellence, we continue to renew ourselves with wines in a classic style (Finca El Otero and Áster) and a modern style (Áster El Espino) that give us a taste of 21st-century Ribera del Duero.

Wine making:

100% Tinta del País from El Otero. This plot has dry, low-fertile, gently eroded clay-loam slopes at 850 m elevation, perfectly suited for the style we are looking for.

We harvested early in the morning, taking advantage of the low temperatures to carry out a natural pre-fermentation cold maceration for a week. After this period, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation began and concluded in 16 days. Then, we transferred the wine to new French oak barrels where, over 92 days, it completed malolactic fermentation with weekly batonnage of the produced lees.

We selected the best barrels to start the aging process in new French oak for 16 months, with two rackings using the traditional method. The final blend was bottled in May 2023.

Description:

Nose: Clean and bright, with an intense ruby color, very high depth, and garnet rim. Powerful aroma, full of layers of ripe fruit, blackcurrants, blueberries, and balsamic notes of mocha, clove, vanilla, and nutmeg, with subtle menthol notes in the background.

Taste: On the palate, it is balanced, with structure, very smooth and round tannins that provide great final elegance. Long aftertaste with a great variety of balsamic and spicy memories.

Wine Pairing:

It accompanies a variety of dishes such as roasted vegetables, red meats, roasted lamb and suckling pig and mature cheeses from the area.
