Description

Information:

Unique, full of passion and emotion. Wines that, with every sip, proudly confirm their origin in the heart of the Ribera del Duero: a terroir where endearing and unforgettable sensations and moments are born.

In the late 1980s, we focused on an emerging and privileged wine-growing region, studying its soils and selecting the best location to produce great wines. Since 1993, we have acquired old vineyards like El Otero and begun new plantings.

In 2000, after years of experimentation in the vineyard and the winery, we presented the first Áster wines. We delved deeper into our knowledge of the vineyard and refined the renowned personality of our brands.

Today, as a result of our restlessness and constant pursuit of excellence, we continue to renew ourselves with wines in a classic style (Finca El Otero and Áster) and a modern style (Áster El Espino) that give us a taste of 21st-century Ribera del Duero.

Description:

Nose: Aromas of black fruit, blackcurrants and blackberries with sweet spices, fine herbs and licorice in the background.

Taste: Powerful on the palate, the fruit expression is smooth with hints of spice. The finish is balanced and structured, with pleasant acidity and the characteristic mineral notes of the terroir.

James Suckling

A lovely brightness and juiciness to this with cherry, spice, and crushed stone. Some tar. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins that have a dusty undertone. Tannic and typical for Duero. Already attractive if you like tannins, but this will soften nicely with two or three more years of bottle age.

Wine Spectator

Hints of tarry smoke and tobacco offer a subtle, savory underpinning for the focused notes of black cherry and mulberry fruit on display in this lively, medium- to full-bodied red. Lightly chewy, with spice box and vanilla accents on the finish. Drink now through 2030. 10,000 cases made, 1,500 cases imported.
