Description

Information:

Founded around 1270, the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges predates the more famous Hospices de Beaune by about two centuries. It combines medical care and winemaking, managing over 12 hectares of vineyards, mostly in Nuits-Saint-Georges (Village and Premier Cru levels) and one plot in Gevrey-Chambertin. These vineyards, including Irène Noblet’s donation, were gifted over centuries to support the institution’s charitable mission, such as funding the modern Saint-Laurent hospital, opened in 2018.

Description:

Nose: Complex and expressive, with aromas of ripe red and black fruits (cherries, blackberries, cassis), complemented by floral notes (violets, rose petals), subtle spice (licorice, clove), and earthy undertones (forest floor, truffle). Oak influence adds hints of vanilla and toast.

Taste: Medium to full-bodied, with a refined and harmonious structure. Silky tannins are well-integrated, supported by bright acidity that gives freshness. The fruit is concentrated yet elegant, with flavors of red cherry, raspberry, and a touch of minerality. The finish is long, with lingering spice and a hint of graphite.
