Description

Information:

This estate, comprising almost 6 hectares of vines, has recently been managed by Jean-Charles Rion (fifth generation of winegrowers), son of Olivier Rion and grandson of Daniel Rion. Founded in 1995 with 1 hectare of vines in the Côte de Nuits Villages appellation, this estate, located in Prémeaux-Prissey at 17B of the RD974 (formerly the national road 74), now offers appellations spanning the Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits, and Hautes Côtes de Nuits. Its winery is located at 33 rue du Dr Louis Legrand in Nuits St Georges (near the sports hall).

The vineyard is managed traditionally, using sustainable farming methods to minimize inputs, given the varying climatic conditions of each year. Jean-Charles completed his formal education at the Beaune Wine School (Bac STAE and BTS in viticulture-oenology), then obtained his degree in vine and wine from the Jules Guyot Institute in Dijon. After three years of professional experience at the family estate (Daniel Rion et fils) in 2008, 2009, and 2010, he decided to embark on a great adventure as a young winegrower on his own farm. He practices this profession with passion and dedication. His sole desire is to produce quality AOP wines that reflect the expression of our many beautiful terroirs.

His wines are produced exclusively on the family estate. There is no parallel trading structure for this small business.

Attentive care throughout the year keeps him focused on his vineyards and cellar. The harvest is limited to small yields. The grapes are harvested manually, followed by rigorous sorting, favoring only the most healthy. Vinification takes place in open stainless steel vats at carefully controlled temperatures throughout the alcoholic fermentation process. Maceration lasts on average from fifteen days to three weeks depending on the appellation and the quality of the vintage. The aging of the red wines, as well as that of the Nuits St Georges Premier Cru white "Les Terres Blanches" (made from Pinot Blanc), takes place leisurely for between twelve and eighteen months in oak barrels.
