Information:

Charles Van Canneyt is a rising star in Burgundy. He took over his grandfather at Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat in 2008, since then, he has been making tremendous wines with high score. The demand exploded worldwide, unfortunately, it is very expensive to purchase more vineyard to quench the thirst of his customers. One available option was to create a négoce, where he can buy grapes from trusted source – that’s what he has done. Furthermore, Charles Van Canneyt wanted to have something that truly belongs to him, print a mark under his own name, as he said: “they’re two completely different things. At the domaine, it’s family, I work for my grandparents. This, is something for me.” He started the adventure in 2012, with only few barrels sourced from top vineyards (mostly grands crus). The market respond was very quick in favour of the wines. Slowly since then, Charles Van Canneyt has expended the range of wines he is making, to offer even more options. Still today, the quantities of each wine are scarce.

Like at Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat, the same care and attention is given, limited extraction, sensible oak policy in order to emphasis the purity and let the terroir speak, to produce as Charles Van Canneyt says: a classic style.

These are impressive wines, worthy of a place in your cellar. The style is very clear, very precise, with good fruit and finesse, and each plot distinguishable when tasted side by side (as we had the pleasure to do in last November).
