Gogi Dakishvili is a force of nature and arguably among the most influential people in the Georgian wine industry. He is consultant to the large Schuchmann winery, where he overseas their excellent range of modern wines. However he also presides over his own passion project, focussing on the use of traditional clay amphora for vinification and maturation. His winery is located in Telavi, in the heart of the Kakheti district, the warmest winemaking region in the country. The vines are planted on both banks of the wide valley of the Alazani River on its eastwards flow towards the Caspian Sea (via Azerbaijan). It is bordered to the north by the magnificent Caucasian mountains. These provide a weather block as well as plentiful water year-round.

Made from 80 year old vines. Fermented and aged in qvevri on skins, stems and seeds 9 months. No SO2 addition.

Nose: Aromas of black currant and cherry set the stage for flavours of cassis, leather, juniper berry and dark chocolate.

Taste: A nice balance of fruit and deeper savoury notes, and velvety tannins make way for a splash of cherry on the lingering finish.
